Congratulations to the following students from Horizon who represented our school extremely well at the Northern Indiana Regional Science Fair at Notre Dame on March 2, 2013.
Horizon has been rated an A school by the Indiana Department of Education. This grade reflects Horizon's most recent academic performance and is calculated based on data collected throughout each school year. The grade takes into account a variety of factors including student performance and student growth. For more information and to see the report card, go to the Indiana Department of Education's COMPASS website.
New this year, parents and staff will receive notification by email, voice or SMS text from P-H-M’s SchoolMessenger service. School delay and closing information will also be available on the Penn-Harris-Madison website: www.phmshools.org and with local media including on their websites prior to 6 a.m. whenever possible. If schools are closed, most events are cancelled or postponed.
Horizon Elementary School has been recognized as a 2010-2011 Indiana Four Star School by the Indiana Department of Education. Only 162 public schools out of 1,780 were awarded this distinction.
Here is Horizon's School-wide Positive Behavior Plan. The goal of the program is to increase the school's ability to address the behavioral needs of all students and staff effectively and efficiently.
Kids Club is a childcare program designed to provide children of working parents with childcare in a safe, home-like atmosphere. The program provides care for children in kindergarten through grade five. Kids Club members are able to choose from a variety of recreational, social and enrichment activities each day.
Volunteers are needed and appreciated at your child's school. Donating a few precious hours of your time can make all the difference.
