The Horizon Main Office is open to serve students and parents. Office hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The school day is 7:55 a.m. to 2:20 p.m.

The make-up date for the January 13 snow day will be Friday, April 27.
The Fun Fair is Coming - Friday, January 27!
The Fun Fair is a great family event and the PTO does an excellent job organizing all the games and prizes. We are looking forward to seeing everyone at the Fun Fair on Friday, January 27! The event begins at 5:30 p.m. and runs until 8:00 p.m.
If you can donate time to volunteer during the Fun Fair, complete this form and return to the school as soon as you can!
School cancellations and delays
When school must be cancelled or delayed due to inclement weather, announcements will be posted on Penn-Harris-Madison’s main website http://www.phmschools.org/. Announcements are also made on the following television stations: WSBT (Channel 22), WNDU (Channel 16), WSJV (Channel 28), and ABC (Channel 57). Or, you can listen to WSBT radio (960 AM, 101.5 FM), WNDU radio (1490 AM or 92.9 FM), WRBR (103.9 FM), or WYBT-B100 (100.7 FM).
Cold weather has arrived
Please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately for winter weather. Recess is generally held outdoors when the temperature (with wind chill) is above 0 degrees. Children are on the playground for approximately 20 minutes. Winter coats, hats, boots, and gloves are essential for children to stay warm and comfortable during recess.
Horizon recognized as an Indiana Four Star School
Horizon Elementary School has been recognized as a 2010-2011 Indiana Four Star School by the Indiana Department of Education. Only 162 public schools out of 1,780 were awarded this distinction.

Here is Horizon's School-wide Positive Behavior Plan. The goal of the program is to increase the school's ability to address the behavioral needs of all students and staff effectively and efficiently.
Kids Club
Kids Club is a childcare program designed to provide children of working parents with childcare in a safe, home-like atmosphere. The program provides care for children in kindergarten through grade five. Kids Club members are able to choose from a variety of recreational, social and enrichment activities each day.
Volunteer Information
Volunteers are needed and appreciated at your child's school. Donating a few precious hours of your time can make all the difference.
